Electronic ordering

Centaur Services encourages practices to benefit from the efficiency and additional discount offered by electronic ordering. Over 70% of the orders received by us on a daily basis are now placed electronically.

Centaur Services can choose to place their orders electronically in one of the following ways:

  • Acorn - a free Windows ™ based system.
  • ESCOS - providing practices with the benefits of hand-held portability for electronic ordering
  • Your practice management system - Centaur’s computer system can accept communications from the majority of management systems in practices today.

Receiving what is ordered.

Centaur Services are unique in their use of barcode technology. Applying in excess of 30 000 bar codes per day ensures that every product in our warehouse is bar coded.

We use a ‘check-out’ process to scan each product before final packing to verify your order corresponds with the products picked. The use of bar code technology guarantees:

  • Order picking accuracy of >99.9%
  • No short-dated or expired product is delivered to your practice
  • Improved practice stock control

The technology also enables the production of a Tote Bin contents list. The list helps you fulfil legislative requirements for batch traceability and records:

  • Product name
  • Batch number
  • Expiry date
  • Date received.

Putting away’ the order could not be simpler as all the information in the list is stored in a single 2-D bar code. Scanning this bar code enables you to transfer all the data listed above directly into your practice management system quickly and easily. This is a significant step in the implementation of electronic stock control in your practice.

To choose from an extensive product range

Centaur carries over 8500 products in stock and has access to a stock file in excess of 10 000 products.

Our Stock Control team is constantly monitoring warehouse stock levels to ensure the highest levels of service are maintained at all times.

The ‘Specials’ team use contacts with hundreds of suppliers to help supply you with those non-stock or uncommon items that are required from time to time.

Having received your order, Centaur staff work throughout the night to ensure your order is picked, packed and delivered to your door next day and free of charge.
