Our new facility at Marlbrook, Leominster is a state of the art Veterinary Eye Hospital attending to referral cases from veterinarians in general practice.
Eye Veterinary Hospital showing the pond fed from the reed beds It opened in April 2002 after several year’s planning and development by Paul Evans who has practiced as a dedicated veterinary ophthalmologist at Eye, north of Leominster, since the early 1990s.
Paul Evans operating assisted by Emma Lee and veterinary nurse Julie Carpenter (click to see larger picture) The hospital has two operating theatres, with operating microscopes, and four consulting rooms as well as a full range of support facilities. It is equipped for small animal operations and will shortly be able to take equine referrals on site which are currently handled at a nearby practice.
Three shepherd clients with their Border Collies waiting outside the hospital for eye testing Paul Evans heads a team of veterinary ophthalmologists and nursing staff providing consultations at the hospital and at a number of outclinics in towns from Bristol to Wolverhampton. Details of these clinics together with maps can be found on our website at www.eyevetclinic.co.uk/EVC/EVCwhere. Consultations are by referral only from general practitioners throughout the country, although Paul Evans and Lorna Newman are on the BVA/Kennel Club Eye Testing panel and hold regular testing sessions in association with local societies both at the hospital and other locations. General practitioners are welcome to telephone us for advice regarding cases.
During the summer two South African veterinary ophthalmologists from Johannesberg Animal Eye Hospital, Antony Goodhead and Izak Venter, will each be spending six weeks at the hospital as part of their own ongoing professional development programmes.
