| Paul Evans MA, VetMB, Cert V Ophthal, MRCVS Paul Evans qualified at Cambridge University Veterinary School in 1968. He worked in general practice in north Herefordshire building up a "James Herriot" three person mixed practice. His interest in ophthalmology was stimulated by the enthusiasm of the late Dr Keith Barnett, his Cambridge lecturer and later mentor. Sale of the general practice in 1991 allowed him to devote 100% of his working time and efforts to the development of a dedicated ophthalmology practice with the founding of Eye Veterinary Clinic. Paul led a team of advisors, headed by local architect David Taylor and using local builders GP Thomas & Son, to build the new Animal Eye Hospital at Marlbrook, which was opened in 2003. (See section link to “the build”) His professional interests include corneal and cataract surgery. Following a sabbatical in Canada and the States he pioneered canine retinal reattachment surgery in the UK. In the last 20 years over 4,000 cataracts in dogs and cats have been operated on at The Eye Veterinary Clinic using similar techniques as is used in the human field. (insert section link to cataract page on the word cataract) Paul was Chairman of the British Association of Veterinary Ophthalmology (BrAVO) in the late 1990s and then served a term as President of the European Society of Veterinary Ophthalmology (ESVO) in 2007/8 after 10 years on the ESVO Board. His hobbies when not at work include travel and mountain walking, gardening, sailing and skiing. |

| John Mould Clinical Director BA, BVSc, DVOphthal, FHEA, MRCVS John Mould graduated from the University of Bristol in 1984. He then spent a year in rural mixed practice in Shropshire before moving to Glasgow University. It was there that he developed an interest in ophthalmology. In his time at Glasgow he obtained the RCVS Diploma in Veterinary Ophthalmology and became a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy. At Glasgow he was responsible for all aspects of the clinical ophthalmology referral service, all undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and internal and external training courses. John remained at Glasgow until 2004 when he moved to the Eye Veterinary Clinic. His professional interests continue to include all aspects of clinical ophthalmology and ophthalmic pathology and teaching in the subject. John and his family have two cats both of which are blind for which John denies all blame. |

| Emma J. Hayton-Lee Veterinary Surgeon BVSc, CertVOphthal, MRCVS Emma qualified from Liverpool Vet School in 1991.She initially worked in small animal and mixed veterinary practice and gained her certificate in ophthalmology during that time. In 2000 she joined the team at the Eye Veterinary Clinic. She is particularly interested in ophthalmology as an indicator of systemic diseases and enjoys extra-ocular and intra-ocular surgery. She is married and has 2 young children as well as numerous large and small animals at home. |

| Kate Brooks Veterinary Surgeon BSc, BVMS, CertVOphthal, MRCVS Kate qualified as a vet from the University of Glasgow in 2000. She worked in a busy charity clinic for 10 years where she developed an interest in veterinary ophthalmology. During that time she made frequent visits to Eye Veterinary Clinic for practical experience and training whilst working towards the Certificate exams. She gained the Certificate in Veterinary Ophthalmology in 2008 and started working for the Eye Vet Clinic full time at the beginning of 2010. In her spare time Kate enjoys sailing, riding and drawing. |

| Eileen Davies Practice Manager Eileen has worked at EVC since January 1986. She originally joined the practice as a receptionist/nurse/administrator when it was a mixed general practice, rearing calves and treating large and small animals. She has seen many changes over the years and hopes that her previous experiences in all these fields give her an understanding of the needs of the staff and practice. She enjoys gardening, travel and spending time with her grandchildren. |

| Sarah Whittaker, RVN Head Veterinary Nurse Sarah joined EVC in 2004, and in 2006 became Head Nurse. Alongside her general nursing duties, Sarah manages the nursing staff, theatre bookings and admin/reception. Sarah's interests include travelling, horse riding, dog agility and playing darts - for local league and for the county ladies team. |

| Anna Chambers, RVN Veterinary Nurse Anna Chambers qualified as a veterinary nurse in 2008. After working in general practice for 3 years, she wanted to expand her experience with anaesthetics, so she moved to the Eye Veterinary Clinic in 2009. In her spare time Anna enjoys training her three dogs and competes regularly in agility competitions. |

| Mellissa Amies, VN Veterinary Nurse Mellissa has been working at the Eye Clinic since 2003. She began her training in Hereford whilst working in both small and large animal practices. She became fully qualified in 2001 whilst working in a veterinary practice in North Yorkshire. Her main duties are admitting patients for surgery, assisting in theatre and monitoring anaesthetics, pre & post operative care of patients and reception. She is married with two young children and enjoys running, swimming and cycling. |

| Kate Spitzmaul, RVN Veterinary Nurse Kate qualified as a Veterinary Nurse in 2004 while working at a general practice in Hereford. She has since worked in an equine practice and a busy orthopaedic referral practice. Kate joined EVC in 2007 to cover maternity leave for a year and is now back working at EVC again while she is taking a break from her travels and work in South Africa. Kate’s interests include horse riding, keeping fit, photography and art. |

| Joanne Wall, VN Veterinary Nurse Jo joined EVC in 2001 as Head Nurse, playing a vital role in the Clinic's move to its new purpose built hospital at Marlbrook in April 2002. Since having her two boys in 2006 and 2008 Jo is now a part time Veterinary Nurse working mainly on reception. Jo is licensed in small animal microchipping, and her hobbies include breeding and showing Welsh Cobs and Miniature Dachshunds and also breeding Pekin Bantams. |

| Claire Lilwall, VN Veterinary Nurse Claire qualified as a Veterinary Nurse in 2001 while working in general practice in Hereford. She joined the Eye Veterinary Clinic in 2007 as she wanted to further her nursing skills in a specialist referral clinic. Claire's interests include music and travelling. |

| Julie Carpenter Nursing Assistant Julie has worked at the EVC since 1999. Over those years she has been responsible for drug orders, stock control, instrument ordering and maintenance, eye testing paperwork, nursing and theatre duties. She is also entertainments manager, and organises the Christmas party every year for the rest of the team, because she likes to see everyone enjoying themselves. Her hobbies are looking after her two horses, riding and showing them, gardening, getting together with friends, going to the pub and participating in her local village activities. |

| Amanda Naylor, VN, CertEd Veterinary Nurse/Administrator Mandy qualified as a Veterinary Nurse in London and went on to become the Head Nurse at a local practice. She gained GCE/Cert Ed in 2000, afterwards teaching veterinary nursing for 8 years. As it happens, Mandy has taught most of the veterinary nurses currently working at the Clinic! Mandy started working at Eye Veterinary Clinic in 2006. Her hobbies include looking after her two boys and a number of animals including sheep, dogs, a cat, chickens and ducks. She owns her own horse and enjoys horse riding. |

| Sandi Evans Manager of the hospital building and the grounds Sandi was acting Clerk of Works during the building of the hospital in 2002/3. She co-ordinates maintenance of the hospital building and has managed the transformation of the 1 hectare hospital grounds at Marlbrook. A monoculture cornfield has been changed into maturing wildlife friendly gardens, a reed-bed system and a traditional Herefordshire orchard. Her hobbies include Tai Chi, gardening and travel. |
